Top 5 Las Vegas Art Events To Check Out
Las Vegas might be known for its world-renowned casinos and famed music residencies, but there’s another scene to check out when you’re in town.
This city is filled with incredible artists who are pushing limits, exploring mediums, and giving audiences a front-row seat to some of their coolest and most innovative new works.
The Las Vegas Art community is thriving, and there’s always something new to explore. Today, we’re highlighting five events you’ll definitely want to add to your itinerary, whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you’re just visiting.
- Sin City Art Walk
The Sin City Art Walk is a great way to discover local, emerging, and established artists right in Las Vegas. The Queen of Arts Studio and Gallery hosts the walk each month, and each event is specially curated to showcase a variety of fine art disciplines. This month, it will occur on October 22 and 23.
The walk lasts for two days and runs from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 222 S. Rainbow Boulevard each day. As you browse the wares, you can discover your new favorite painters, artisans, and crafters. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the artists while you enjoy live music and great local food.
This event is family-friendly. Admission is free and open to the public.
- Summerlin Festival of Arts
The Summerlin Festival of Arts is a two-day art event in Las Vegas. This year will mark the 26th year that it’s come to town!
On Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9, head to The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin. There, you’ll find a walkable festival filled with open-air shopping, delicious eats, and live entertainment. There are even events and programs designed especially for children, including face painting.
As you browse, you can discover the works of more than 100 esteemed fine artists. This group is specially selected for the event by a panel of local art experts.
The event lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days. Admission is free and open to the public.
- Chalktober Fest
Skye Canyon is a master-planned Las Vegas community, ideally positioned between the Vegas Strip and the towering trees of Mt. Charleston.
This collection of fine neighborhoods features state-of-the-art amenities, as well as parks and open spaces to enjoy. On October 22, the community will host Chalktober Fest, designed to encourage Las Vegas residents and visitors to embrace art and everything that autumn has to offer.
In 2022, the event will hit its six-year mark, and it’s always something that locals look forward to participating in and enjoying. The premise is simple: Artists sign up to compete in a live chalk art competition, and community members can walk around and enjoy their pursuits.
This year, the theme is “Spread Love – Land, Sea, and Skye.” Artists who register are encouraged to interpret this theme, displaying how art can be used to uplift and inspire.
Not only can you see the artists in action, but you can vote for them on the spot to see if your favorite will win! There are three categories of artists: Students (age 12 to 18), Amateurs (age 18+), and Professionals.
In addition to the contest, there will also be an art fair, magic show, children’s costume contest, and pumpkin patch on site. If you get hungry, head over to one of the food trucks in attendance!
The event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. and lasts until 4:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
- Art 4 Autism
Art 4 Autism is an inclusive art exhibit designed to showcase local Las Vegas artists who are on the autism spectrum. This year, the month-long event kicks off on Friday, October 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Las Vegas Design Center in The World Market Building.
A team effort between the Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) and Las Vegas Design Center, Art 4 Autism, the kickoff might be a one-day event, but you can enjoy the pieces for much longer. All of the artwork will remain on display for one month at the Las Vegas Design Center in downtown Las Vegas.
The kickoff will consist of a cocktail reception, hors d’ oeuvres, and an exclusive artist meet-and-greet event. At that time, all of the artwork you see on display will be available for purchase. Fifty percent of each purchase will go directly to the artist, and the other 50% will go to FEAT programs that support and benefit individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as their families.
In 2022, the event is curated by featured artist Mr. Alexander Skye, as well as Vegas native Mr. Brian “Paco” Alvarez. Paco is a cultural expert, as well as a well-known local entrepreneur and anthropologist.
This event is free for participating artists. General admission to the cocktail reception is $10. There are also multiple sponsorship levels available.
- Wink World
Of course, one of the best ways to immerse yourself in Las Vegas art culture is to plan a visit to Wink World! This dynamic exhibit is visually and sonically immersive, and you can expect nothing less from renowned artist Chris Wink. One of the three co-founders (and Chief Creative Officer) of Blue Man Group, Wink, has been honing his skills for decades.
The full title of the exhibit is “Wink World: Portals Into the Infinite,” and as soon as you enter, you’ll understand why. The journey takes you through six rooms, each filled with infinity mirrors and featuring a unique combination of light, sound, color, and motion.
